Welcome

For as long as I've been painting, my eye has gone to one place first: the sky.

Cloud, light, weather moving across a landscape — this is where I find the paintings I want to make. My current work sets narrative aside for something quieter: abstract landscapes built almost entirely around the sky, its colour, its motion, its refusal to sit still.

I share the process behind the work — sketches, false starts, the days a painting finally comes together — in my Artist's Diary. If you'd like to follow along, join my studio list below.

I'm Suzanne Buckley, a painter based on the Beara Peninsula in West Cork. I trained in fine art and printmaking, spent years in digital marketing before returning to the easel, and now paint the sky above this coastline, one cloud study at a time.
